Time and time again roof repair inspections throw up the same common issues at eaves. This occurs partly due to the fact that no sarking support board was installed to support the existing felt membrane below at eaves. Naturally due to wear and tear old slaters felt will inevitably weather at eaves much quicker than a modern breather membrane will.

Therefore, all pitched roofs requiring maintenance should have installed an appropriate eave support either under existing membrane if not totally perished or if so, replace felt and battens and install support trays to eaves accordingly. By carrying out these necessary steps will help prolong longevity and prevent further damage to existing timber fascia and soffit, whilst, eliminating the risk of ponding water accumulating.
